March 4: Bemoan

Posted: March 4, 2010 in Uncategorized

Early this morning I saw a friend’s facebook status update that mentioned heavy rain in Haiti.  After searching through several news sites, I finally found some stories – buried way back in the paper – about life in tent cities in Haiti, now that the rainy season is upon them.  Many aren’t even lucky enough to be in a tent; some are just in the streets.  Thousands are orphaned children.

I just can’t imagine having been a kid, losing my mom and dad, and living in the rain in the streets.  I can’t even imagine it.

Later, I was getting ready for work and I heard Sam Champion on Good Morning America say, “The question everyone is asking?  Will it rain on Oscar night or will it hold off til after the stars make their way down the red carpet?”

It reminded me of this cartoon I saw, right after the earthquake:

Bemoan: A world so broken that tragedy is trendy…until it’s not.  So grateful that Jesus doesn’t forget and His heart is still fixed on healing Haiti.

    PREACH it Bo!

We’ve got so much depression because things aren’t right in our lives…my contention is that if folks spent more time reaching out to others, there would be less time to pick at each other. It’s hard to help a person get their only meal for the day and then go home and feel badly because we don’t have the loose change for those $100. jeans.

It’s all about perspective. Thanks for bringing this right perspective to us today.

    Sooo appreciate you!
